Let the Painting begin!

Adam and I are in full swing painting out here in "The Cats." We are both really excited to move in to our new place in Los Gatos, but did not completely understand the amount of work it would take to paint it first. I got a little over zealous when I found out we could paint and picked out all sorts of colors. After thinking it over a bit, we are going to paint one less room and use 2 less colors. So we are painting the living room, master bedroom, hallway, and bathroom. The living room was a darker brown and not really my favorite color, but we are leaving it in the kitchen. The hallway was a bright light pink; yea, that had to go! The bathroom was a darker pink and the bedroom was a dark greenish blue color. Not really our tastes (not that Adam cares too much! Especially after he asked what color I wanted to paint it. I said "green" he said "wasn't it already green?!?" This was after we had primed it).

Sunday we got started priming all the rooms. Joel came over at night and helped us. We primed the living room and the bedroom.
I put 2 samples up on the wall. The darker one is going to be the living room and the lighter is the bathroom.

Monday, after deciding that the green for the back bedroom wasn't going to work, I felt as if I was back at square one for picking a color. I went back to Home Depot and stared at the paint for a while and couldn't figure anything out! I then called my mom and got some tips. She suggested a warm neutral. I felt like I was taking every paint sample by the time I left! I got home and taped them all up on the wall to try and decide. (I had more that I didn't tape up.)

Then I got started priming the bathroom. It is divided into two rooms and I gave the shower room two coats. Then Adam and I made a trip to Ace Hardware to look at more colors for the bedroom and then to Sherwin Williams. We bought one sample from SW and then stopped for a A&W float :) After that nice treat we went back to Home Depot and got the paint for the living room and bathroom and one sample for the bedroom.

So here are the current choices. Of course we can't really decide. Really we can't go wrong, they are both neutrals. But.... it is still a hard choice.

Then we painted the living room!! Yea! It is done. We put one coat on, chilled for a bit, ordered chinese take-out, and then put the second coat on.

It looks alot bluer in the pictures I think.

After we were done, Adam got to work on the other half of the bathroom.

Doesn't he look so excited?? I just can't wait till it is all done!

What's been happening

This might turn into a big post...

We have been doing things even though we have not been posting so I (Court) am going to finally update!

First, our dear friend Kevin Tudball has moved south. He was unhappy here with his job and decided to go for his dream job and location. Now he is working for O'Neill, a surf company somewhere south of LA, and loving it! We are happy for him but it was sad to see him go. The night before he left, we met him, Lauren, and Ryan (who flew up from San Diego to help Kevin move) at a bar in Santa Cruz for a concert.

(I know this is kind of a bad pic but there was not a good one)

Next, Adam and I went to a Matt Wertz concert this past Tuesday (June 3rd) at the Swedish American Club in SF. It was so good! I really like Matt and it was my third time seeing him but Adam's first. I first went with my friends Carissa, Allison, Jessica, and Abby from college in 2005 to the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor. This concert was a little different because he didn't have his band. It was just him and a friend on thier guitars. They played for a long time and it was AMAZING!

And last but not least, we have a new place to live! Adam and I are going to rent a duplex in Los Gatos for the next year. We are really excited to get out of Sunnyvale. It is just way too built up and boring for our liking. Los Gatos is a very nice town with a nice downtown. It is also very close to the mountains and trails. We drove by the house today and I snapped a pic. We get the keys on the 15th! I am going to try and pick out some paint because the last tenant REALLY liked pink and we don't so much :) It has hardwood floors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and most important... we can have a cat! There is also a nice private backyard. The only problem is that the woman in the other half is dating a Ohio State fan. Booo....
